This month, we are shining the spotlight on Sharon Gill, our Account Manager at Coiledspring Games. She is here to tell us her top five board games that make a regular appearance on her tabletop for family game nights.
Over to you Sharon!
Tenzi is a dice game that is fast, fun and was an absolute life saver during lockdown! You each have ten dice and you roll them as fast as you can until you match all the numbers. My son Reece and I particularly love this game because it tests his math ability (and mine!)
You can add on 77 Ways to Play Tenzi which are challenge cards that have weird and whacky ways to roll the dice, such as ‘splitzi’, ‘piratezi’ and many more!
Zombie Kidz is wonderfully kid friendly! It’s a lighthearted, cooperative game with a strong theme. You play as a group of kids on an epic adventure to keep zombies from invading the school.
As you move through the game, it evolves right before your eyes. You unlock different missions, and Reece gets very excited opening the envelopes and discovering what adventure is up next!
Outfoxed! is another children’s game that is a firm favourite in our household! It’s a detective themed, deduction challenge that has you working as a team to try and catch the thief that stole the pie!
Reece loves Outfoxed, he thinks he’s a detective every time he plays it! It’s also great for team building, and a bit of fun for adults too.
King of Tokyo is absolutely iconic! It’s fun, family friendly, easy to learn and sparks some good competition! The aim of the game is to have your monster battle it out for the position of King of the city.
It combines the luck of the dice roll with a bit of strategy, I always find it hard to choose between playing aggressively by attacking other monsters, or playing for points!
Anoma is all about quick thinking, and it seriously works the brain! As you turn over cards, spot the matching symbols and then race to name an example of what is written on your opponents card. It could be anything from a type of fruit, to a TV show, to a famous actor.
This card game quickly becomes competitive and it’s hilarious to watch people struggle to find words to say, and equally as funny when you get brain freeze too!
If you have played any of these games before, let us know we love hearing what games make it to your table!
